Asheville, North Carolina

Diversity and community: two words that have long been synonymous with Asheville. While many equate Asheville with the Biltmore estate, there is much more to Asheville than the largest private home in America. After the Great Depression, many cities defaulted on their massive debts - while Asheville city fathers honored those debts. While most cities across the country were tearing down historically significant buildings, Asheville couldn’t afford to. Now, rather than drab & dreary 1940-1950’s buildings many consider eyesores…Asheville has one of the largest collections of unaltered buildings from the 1910’s and 1920’s in the southeastern part of the country, second only to Miami.
As you explore the various communities in and around Asheville, one thing you will soon realize: each offers its own unique nooks and crannies. If one area doesn’t quite feel “right” there’s plenty of variety here in the place once called “the happiest place on earth”!
