Asheville: A City Spread Out
One thing many people notice right away is that this area does not have a lot of rush hour congestion, even in Asheville. Asheville is by far the largest city in the area, with a population of around 75,000. Hendersonville has a population of less than 15,000. The Asheville MSA area, which includes Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood and Madison counties, has a total population of around 417,000. That translates into: there’s plenty of residents here, most just live outside the city.
