East Asheville

Heading east out of town, College Street becomes Tunnel Road at Beaucatcher Tunnel. Here you’ll find Asheville Mall as well as a variety of hotels, franchise restaurants, furniture stores and smaller, strip centers that have just about all of the big box stores you could ever need. Heading just slightly further east, along Hwy 70, you find a somewhat slower, less congested way of life.
When you’ve finished your shopping and are looking for a better home value, with larger lots and less new construction, East might be the side of Asheville that suits you. This side of town has an abundance of cozy older neighborhoods, brick ranchers, a municipal golf course and even an Award Winning Veterans Hospital. Haw Creek, Beverly Hills, Riceville and Swannanoa- home of Warren Wilson College & the Harley Davidson of Asheville dealership are all stops along or slightly off Hwy 70 that may offer just what you’re looking for. The Blue Ridge Parkway has an entrance here as well, with the Folk Art Center being just ½ mile along the parkway, that has ever-changing exhibits and events and a breathtaking selection of artisan crafts. And the best part, you don’t have to travel far to be among the rolling hills, small farms, some amazing views and lower county taxes..jpg)
Heading East in an east-south easterly direction along the four lane Hwy 74A you’ll find Reynolds- home of AC Reynolds Middle & High Schools and the small town of Fairview, both are, for the most part, bedroom communities of Asheville. Out here, there’s something for everyone. Several newer apartment and condo communities, and single family homes that range from mid $200K’s to well over $1M. in developments and communities such as Southcliff, Eastwood Village, Cedarcliff and several exclusive equestrian communities.
