Asheville Schools
Asheville City Schools are Magnet schools. Usually children attend public schools in the areas where they live. In comparison, magnet schools are not defined by area. Instead, those living in the Asheville City Schools district may attend the elementary school of their choice as long as there is racial balance and space available. Specifically, in Asheville City Schools, a magnet program has been developed to allow students to attend the school whose “theme” best matches their interests. Further, all of our magnet schools offer an effective curriculum based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
The mission of Asheville City Schools is to provide quality education in which we respect students’ individual and cultural differences, develop their talents in partnership with family and community, and ensure that they possess the life skills necessary for personal success and civic responsibility.
Asheville City Schools are creating and sustaining a culture of life-long learning which features ever-present, equitable access to mobile technologies and programs designed to foster the talents and interests of all students. Students are engaged in authentic, real-world activities and projects based on national technology standards.
